La Cense Horse: Hi

When I decided to rekindle and live my dream with horses, it seemed a simple thing. Just find some elderly, kind trail horse and head to the mountains. Well, four "perfect" horses and one hospital admission later, it was time to re-evaluate! Luckily, I had also discovered Pat and Linda Parelli during that time and a place called La Cense Montana.

The folks at La Cense put a lot of effort into helping me find my perfect match. MY partner! Exactly one month after the day of purchase my mare, Hialeah and I were on our way to Pagosa Springs, Colorado for a one week Level 2 class. It was at Pagosa that Hi (AKA Hialeah) started to really show me her stuff. Parelli warns that green on green (green rider, green horse) makes for black and blue. Well, I was green as a shamrock and Hi showed me the way into Level 2. She would patiently wait for me to get a request right and then execute it perfectly and with PAZZAZZ! She helped me build my waning confidence every day and by the end of the week we were trotting impulsion patterns!

I admit to a bit of pride when so many others wanted to know where I bought my horse. She and I were able to enjoy so many compliments. She really stood out in any crowd. She" filled in" for my obvious lack of savvy. Maybe one day I will bring along a green horse, maybe not. But to have a solid horse under me in the beginning has been a joy and unbeatable experience. My horse and I.. well.. We are PARTNERS!
