OUR GOAL
Our mission statement is both simple and unique: La Cense Montana is dedicated to educating high-quality registered Quarter Horses using the internationally recognized methods of Parelli Natural Horse.man.ship (PNH). We offer recreational horse lovers of all levels and experience the opportunity to truly enjoy strong, sound, and safe horses.

OUR HORSES
Each of our one hundred plus head of registered Quarter Horses is selected from a natural breeding farm with proven breeding stock, where the horses are foaled and raised in a natural herd environment. We choose each horse based on the highest standards of conformation, disposition and health criteria, in order to provide the finest quality horses to our customers.

The horses come to La Cense as two year olds where their natural horsemanship education begins with a brief introduction before they're turned out to mature in a herd environment in the miles of pastures and varied terrain of the ranch. At three years of age, the horses begin their formal natural horsemanship education that results in soft and sensitive four year olds that make wonderful partners for the recreational rider.

TRAINING OUR HORSES
Based on years of experience, a proven-track record, and a true understanding of horse behavior, Pat Parelli's training method is one of the most successful natural ways to educate horses to reach their full potential.

An additional benefit to our horse development program is the ability to implement PNH in the environment of a working cattle ranch - thereby exposing the horses to varied experiences and enhancing their learning foundation. At La Cense, each of our horses is exposed to a wide variety of terrain, obstacles, and situations that prepare them to become a quality partner for the recreational rider.

TRAINING LEVELS
Our horses are individually developed and assessed according to the PNH Levels program. The three-step program was designed for each level to build on the one before, step-by-step, so as to construct a solid foundation for the horses. It includes work both on the ground and in the saddle.

Each level instills a language with which to communicate with horses. Each level instills a language with which to communicate with horses. The purpose is to help them feel safe and to develop the ground skills which become the foundation for future success. The horse gradually learns to become responsive in order to behave like a partner, and ultimately as an extension of the rider.

A horse will only be offered for sale when our team of specialists has deemed that the horse is able to perform, upon request, any of the tasks that correspond to the horse's stated level of development.

THE MATCH PROCESS
The La Cense Montana horses make wonderful partners for the recreational rider. If you're interested in finding your dream partner, please contact us. Because we take great care in matching the rider with the right horse, we'll interview you about what you're looking for in a horse, your riding level and activities, and other related information. From here we'll choose a small group of "match" horses that we believe to be good prospects to become your dream partner. We then invite you to visit the ranch to meet your "match" horses. Our trainers will demonstrate each horse for you and you'll try each horse out for yourself, both in the arena and out on the trails. We find that the choice often becomes obvious and, frequently, it's the horse who does the choosing.
